There Is NO Quick Cure To Cystic Acne

Cystic acne is the most severe kind of acne and the most frustrating to treat. It is characterized by swollen pustules that are under the surface of the skin. The pustules are deep in the skin, full of pus and are often painful. Picking or scratching at the pustules result in dark scars and is difficult to treat.

There is no quick cure to cystic acne. It can often take months to treat the infections due to how deep in the skin the pustule is. Sometimes draining is the only way to get rid of a cystic pustule. But draining at home can lead to further outbreaks and bad scarring. But before you run to the dermatologist and spend vast amounts of money there are homemade treatments and even topical treatments for cystic acne.

Home Treatment for Cystic Acne

The most effective treatment for cystic acne besides getting a prescription is a peel. This form of peeling is a kind of steam treatment. The pores are opened up using steam, the area is cleaned and a balm is then applied onto the skin and later peeled off. The peel cleans out the clogged pores, can get rid of the bacteria, cleans out any dead skin cells, dirt and oil.

To effectively steam to open up the pores get a bowl or boiling water. You can add a few drops of lemon juice or tea tree oil if you would like to make the experience more soothing and to help kill the bacteria. Have your face be above the boiling water for at least 15 minutes breathing in the steam and letting the hot air and steam open up your pores. Have a towel draped over your head so that the heat intensifies and properly opens the pores. Steaming will increase blood circulation making it easier to get to the dirt and oil that was blocked by the cyst.

After the pores are opened clean the affected area. Use either acne products containing ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or make your own facial scrub. To make your scrub use a half cup of un-cooked oatmeal, mix with either a 3 tablespoons of honey, aloe vera or olive oil – depending on your skin type and what suits your skin best, then mix with one egg yolk. Gently massage it onto your face and rinse off with warm water. This will help to clean out your pores. Massaging the cysts will get them to open up easier and the bacteria can be cleaned out.

To make a peel blend a cucumber until it resembles a paste. Strain the juice out and set the juice aside for later use, you can toss the cucumber. Heat some tea, lemon tea is preferable. When the tea is heated through add gelatin and stir until it is dissolved in the tea. Remove from heat and pour it into a bowl. Add the cucumber juice and aloe vera gel to the tea and gelatin mixture. Chill until the mixture thickens, this should take a half an hour. Apply the peel to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. After it dries peel the mask off and rinse with warm water.

Best Treatment for Cystic Acne

Using products that are strong are especially important when dealing with cystic acne.  Look for products that have benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid. Keep treating your acne for at least 3 months before trying a different treatment; preferably use the same treatment for 6 months.

After 6 months of treatment and it still doesn’t work you may need to get advice from your doctor. Your doctor will be able to direct you to the best treatment for your specific type of skin.
